S60 for touchscreen smartphones announced

It’s been rumored for a while that new generation S60 platform might come out. Eventually Nokia has officially announced that S60 supports touchscreen displays and showed a working prototype of the mobile device at Symbian Smartphone Show. Reportedly, S60 Touch supports both stylus and finger input, and when you touch the screen you feel tactile feedback (pulsation). Nokia notes that the current applications for S60 3rd Edition will work on touch devices, it won’t need any corrections. In addition the new S60 version will have a browser supporting Flash Video.

According to Nokia S60 Touch will be available for mobile vendors next year.
