Vertu-branded handsets are famous for high quality and materials applied in the casing. Given widespread 3G networks in Europe it makes a good logic for Vertu to enter the market, besides there are enough wealthy people in Europe to buy Vertu handsets.

Now Vertu Ascent Ti, a 3G phone, comes to stores. It features UMTS 2100 MHz, a 3-megapixel camera, a QVGA-screen and Series 40 platform. I’d mention 4 GB of onboard memory. Unfortunately there is no info on the price.

P-Ink new e-paper type by Opalux.

The new display will pump out colors three times brighter than other displays, which is crucial for displays exposed to reflected light.

The technology is called P-Ink and based on photonic crystals made out of silica beads. The crystals can then be made to reflect varying wavelengths of light. The developers expect to see the P-Ink technology applied in commercial products in 2009, for example in advertising displays.

Apple sold its one millionth iPhone

At the press conference Apple reported that international sales of the revolutionary iPhone broke the one million barrier. I’d remind you that such sales volume was expected in the period of July 29 to September 30, so Apple is outpacing its own predictions. One of the key reasons for it is the recent price slash, the fact broadened the target public at once, besides the uproar in media sources encouraged the promotion of the phone. Anyway Apple could have achieved an unprecedented success without driving the price down and expanding the target period till the end of September.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs noted that it took almost two years to achieve the one million milestone with iPod, while iPhone was right on the target in 74 days. Despite of iPhone’s cons and pros Apple is now on a strong rise.
